How to Change Cabin Air Filter for 2005 Toyota Corolla
The job of your cabin air filter is to filter the outside air before letting it go into the car. Theoretically you should change it every 12000 mile or 1 year. Practically, you should change it if you smell something weird when the A/C is on.
If you do this service in dealer, they will charge you around $70 (my dealer just offered me this "deal" yesterday). Don't let them rip you off, because the filter itself cost less than $20, and the changing process will only take you a couple minutes.

Based on your car model and year, buy a new cabin air filter in auto store or online. It's around $10 - 20, depending on the brands.
For 2005 Toyota Corolla (and Matrix), the location of the cabin air filter is inside of the drawer (passenger side). Open the drawer, you will see a screw on the RIGHT hand side. Unscrew it with a cross shape screw driver.
Put the drawer back. To make this work easier, you may lock the bottom of the drawer first, as there are TWO locks on each side of the bottom drawer. Close the drawer to see if the position is right.
