How to Check Air Pressure in a Tire in a Toyota Camry

How to Check Air Pressure in a Tire in a Toyota Camry

A conscientious Toyota Camry driver should check the level of tire inflation every month. Ensuring that tires of your mid-sized car are filled to the proper pressure can improve handling and increase the mileage you get out of each tank of gas you buy.

Difficulty:
Moderately Easy

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • Tire gauge
  • 1

Decide which tire gauge is right for you. You can purchase a standard pen or stick gauge, one that lights up for checking pressure at night or a tire gauge that speaks the readings to you.

  • 2

Learn how the tire gauge works. The standard pen or stick tire gauges operate by you placing the tire gauge on the stem valve of each tire. The stick then pops out with the corresponding pressure reading. A dial gauge works in much the same way. You place the dial gauge head on the stem valve, and the pressure causes the dial to spin giving you the proper reading. A digital or talking tire gauge requires you to place the head on the stem valve. You then look on the gauge for a digital read out of the pressure, or listen for the digital talking gauge to read you the pressure value.

  • 3

Wait until your tires are cold. Perform the test in the morning or before you drive anywhere. Friction from driving increases the pressure of the air inside your tire, and this can skew results.

  • 4

Remove the plastic screw cap from the valve stem of your tire. These can get lost very easily, so be sure to keep it in a safe place.

  • 5

Place the head of the tire gauge on the tire valves of your Camry. Wait a moment while the gauge reads your pressure, then check your pressure value on the gauge.

  • 6

Ensure your tire is filled to the proper pressure. Toyota recommend
